Carlton Russell “Rusty” Moore, Jr., 69, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A private family graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Moore at a later date with the Rev. James Irons officiating. Mr. Moore will be laid to rest at Leila Church Cemetery in Omega. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ricky Johnson, Ricky Baker, Dean Baker, Ed Branch, Wade Napier and Roger Stone will serve as pallbearers.
Born August 30, 1955, in Tifton, Mr. Moore was the son of the late Carlton Russell Moore, Sr. and Bessie Rowell Moore. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Gail Moore; and one niece, Joanna Hope Stone. He was self-employed as the owner and operator of Rusty Moore’s Body Shop in Tifton since 1985; and he was a member of Tift Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Moore was an engine builder and a racing enthusiast; and he was inducted into the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame. He loved his family, fishing and raising cows. He was always helping others with their needs; and he liked things “loud and fast”.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Katie Delaney Moore of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Sean and April Corbett of Tifton; one brother, Richard “Dicky” Moore of Tifton; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Barbara Gibbs, Dianne Snow and Sue and Ricky Baker, all of Enigma; two grandchildren and their spouses, Blane Corbett and Taylor and Josh Jordan; and two great-grandchildren, Brooks Jordan and Asher Corbett.
