Obituary

WEBSTER – David A. Paquette, Sr., 74, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024 in UMass Memorial University Campus after an illness with family at his side.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Linda A. (Poplawski) Paquette; 5 children, Karen J. Desrosiers and her husband Robert of Paxton, Lisa A. Muchiru and her husband Brian of Webster, David A. Paquette, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Woodstock, CT, Sarah E. Paquette of Webster, and Annie P. Oliver and her husband Kevin of Elkins, WV; 5 grandchildren, Daria, Aiden, Marcus, Kyle and Rivers; a brother, Peter Paquette and his wife Susan of Spencer; 4 sisters, Agnes Patrowicz and her husband Steve of Stowe, Anne Buccelli and her husband John of Dudley, Michelle Fitzback and her husband John of Brimfield, and Mary Cournoyer of Leominster; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Josephine Paquette and by his brothers Wilfred and Joseph Paquette.

He was born on October 8, 1950 in Putnam, CT, one of the 8 children of Rudolph and Robea M. (Despatie) Paquette and was raised in Dudley. He graduated from Bartlett Trade School and did further studies to become a teacher. He lived in Webster most of his life.

Mr. Paquette began his work as a self-employed carpenter and then for Guenther and Sabaj Builders. He was a carpentry teacher and in charge of the house building projects at Bay Path Regional Vocation Technical High School for many years, retiring in 2012.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He volunteered for church projects at Saint Joseph Basilica and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

He loved playing the guitar and the banjo. He liked fishing, golfing and woodworking. He belonged to the Booster Athletic Club and the Sons of the American Legion Post #184. He was a weekly adorer at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours will be held in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, on Friday, January 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and again at the church on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:45 AM followed by the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Donations in his name may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, 17 East Main Street, Webster, MA 01570.
