Windham - Cleopatra (Cleo) Minerva Jackson, age 93, passed away December 21, 2024. Her last days were marked by love as she received endless messages and calls from family and was surrounded by her daughter Wendy Green, grandsons Jeffrey Hudson and Beno Green, and great granddaughter Diamond Green who joyfully reminisced and watched over their life guardian angel.
Cleo was born in Brooklyn, New York on Dec 23, 1930, daughter of the late Beatrice “Gang Gang” and Lucius Jackson. She loved her mother so much that she dreamt of her each night.
True to her namesake, Cleopatra was incredibly elegant, full of life, and a true matriarch. Cleo impressively worked her way up to a production type role at ABC’s radio station, but her life calling and passion was caring for family, no matter the situation or the physical distance.
Forever a Bronx, New York explorer and lover, Cleo moved to Windham, Maine in the early 2000s to be closer to her younger daughter and best friend, Lisa Hudson. In Maine, Cleo found deep friendship and incredible support from the ladies of Marcus Woods Apartments. Many parties and stories were enjoyed among true friends like her kindred spirit, Judy.
Cleo’s heart was broken when Lisa passed in July 2024. She is also predeceased by her sister Pearl Jackson, and two brothers Reginald Jackson, and Marcus “Jackie” Jackson.
Cleo is survived by her adoring and loving family: Wendy Green (daughter), Gineen Hogan (adopted daughter, niece, daughter of Pearl Jackson), and Dorothy Jackson (sister: 100yrs); her grandchildren: Jeffrey Hudson, Nicole Green, Charles Green, Julian Green, Beno Green, Stephanie Green, Sean Green, Kevin Green, Jessica Reese, Essence Mclannahan, Alija Hogans; and 16 great grandchildren. She leaves in each of us her iron will, strength of knowing oneself, and joy of life.
A private family service will be held in Connecticut to honor the life and memory of Cleo. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Rt. 1, Scarborough, Maine 04074 for their support and comfort of Cleo and her family in her final days.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Poitras Funeral Homes, www.mainefuneral.com
