Edgar G. Chagnon Jr, age 75, passed away on December 29, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on September 11, 1949 in Holyoke, son of the late Edgar G. Chagnon Sr and Doris Mary Rose (LeClair) Chagnon. Edgar worked as a welder for Johnson Foils Co for over 30 years before he retired. He loved watching “mafia movies” which really meant soap operas like General Hospital and Hallmark movies. He is survived by his wife Mary I. (Houle) Chagnon of Chicopee; three sons, Jeffrey Chagnon and his partner Jenn Kowal of Chicopee, Daniel Chagnon and his wife Nancy of South Hadley and Matthew Chagnon of Chicopee; one brother Alfred Chagnon of Northampton; two sisters, Alice Morin and her husband Mike of RI and Lea Jones and her partner Chris Jones of Chicopee; 9 grandchildren, Joseph Chagnon and his girlfriend Alycia Baker, Jeremy Chagnon and his wife Janiah, Amanda Santerre and her boyfriend Brendan Ryan, Jack Chagnon, Kaylin Chagnon, Landon Chagnon, Celia Chagnon, Jolie Chagnon and Stephen O’Brien along with two great grandchildren, Jett and Ceah Chagnon. He is predeceased by his sister Dianne Lawson. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee.
