Deacon Jesus M. Quiles of Roslindale, MA. Passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Boston, MA. He was 90 years old. Deacon Quiles was ordained on May 23, 1982, and served as a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Boston for 42 years.
He was the beloved husband of his wife of 71 years, Palmira Quiles. Deacon Quiles was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on June 1, 1934, to the late Nicolas Quiles Lugo and Margarita (Matos) Quiles and graduated from Ponce High School, Ponce, Puerto
Rico.
He is survived by his wife Palmira. He is also survived by his sons, Jesus and Nick Quiles; He was predeceased by two sons, Angel (Pee-wee) and Anthony (Tony). Had nine grandchildren (Nick, Justin, Jonathan, Christopher, Peter, Andrew, Anthony and Gio). He was predeceased by his granddaughter Allison. Also had two great-grandchildren (Nickolas and Katalina). Brother of the late Deacon Francisco Quiles, Carmen, Tomasita, James, Gladys, and Isabel. Survivors include Sophie, Margarita (Daisy), Edward, Martha and Luis. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Deacon Jesus worked at Sacred Heart Parish in Roslindale for over 20 years. He also was active in the Spanish Cursillo Movement of the Archdiocese of Boston for over 50 years, as well as the Spanish Marriage Encounter for many years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church, located at 169 Cummins Highway, Roslindale, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Roslindale. This will be followed by interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery, located at 500 Canterbury St., Roslindale. After the burial, relatives and friends are invited for a Celebration of Life at the Sacred Heart School, located at 1035 Canterbury Street, Roslindale.
