Mrs. Rita A. (Friedrich) Hartjes, a resident of Weymouth, formerly of Medford and beloved wife of the late Charles Hartjes, passed away at the Dwyer Home in Weymouth on Sunday morning, December 29, 2024. She was 92 years old.
Born in Zurich, Switzerland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Friedrich.
Rita was an active woman and enjoyed knitting, sewing and baking. She also loved to garden around her home in Medford. Rita and her husband, Charles enjoyed traveling both in the United States and abroad. She will be dearly missed.
Rita is survived by her loving children; Deborah L. and her husband Joseph J. Previte of Hingham, David C. Hartjes and his partner Shannon K. Sullivan of Stoneham, Cara Rose and her husband Paul Wilkes of Dedham and Daniel R. Hartjes of North Reading, grandchildren; Lauren, Joseph, Christian and his wife Kayla, Aaron, Tal, Ari, Nate, Max and Eli, great-grandchildren; Jack and Owen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also the sister of the late Beatrice Parsley.
Her Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 3 to 7 PM. Interment will be privately held.
