Obituary

Alden Cyr, 84, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024 at UMass Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his family. Alden was born in St. Agatha, Maine in 1940. Alden is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Nancy; his three sons, Jeffrey and his wife Deb, David, and Richard; his four grandchildren, Makenzie and her husband Adam, Jordyn, Joshua and his fiancée Aline, and Megan; and sister-in-law, Mary E. Schweitzer of Cudahy, WI. . He is predeceased by his mother, Doria Pagonis, and his daughter-in-law, Lori Cyr.

From 1961-1965 he served in the US Air Force. Following his time in the Air Force, Alden enjoyed a long and fulfilling career, dedicating himself to roles at Parker Manufacturing, Stanley Tools, and the Thomas Smith Company. Known for his hard work and camaraderie, he took great pride in providing for his family and supporting his colleagues.

Outside of work, Alden’s passions brought him immense joy. A lover of classic Western films, he enjoyed spending hours watching the adventures and stories that captured his imagination. He was also an avid camper, especially fond of the natural beauty of New Hampshire. His love for camping was matched by his playful spirit—his booming laughter and enthusiastic voice could often be heard across the campground as he played a lively game of horseshoes.

As a passionate sports fan, Alden loved to spend his time watching the Patriots and coaching baseball in the Ty Cobb Little League. His laid-back nature and genuine laughter brought warmth to everyone around him, and he had an extraordinary gift for finding happiness in life’s simplest moments.

Alden’s legacy of kindness, love, and laughter will be cherished by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alden's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue.
