Alice E. “Betty” (Eastwood) Velozo, age 80, of Westport, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her close family and friends.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late John M. and Alice (Vandenburgh) Eastwood. She was a Westport resident for most of her life and a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.
She was the beloved bride of her high school sweetheart Dennis M. Velozo, her husband of 57 years. Including her husband, she is survived by her son Michael D. Velozo, his wife Nicole, and their children Emma and Sean of Taunton as well as her daughter Kathryn Velozo Valentine and her daughter Lauren of Fall River. She was also the nana to Kathryn’s late daughter, Sarah Valentine.
Betty was a BMC Durfee high school class of 1962 graduate and furthered her education at Union Hospital School of Nursing where she obtained her nursing license. She was a passionate registered nurse for 53 years. Beginning her career working for Doctors Manning, Delaney, and Lemaire she then transferred to Pediatrics Associates of Fall River as a floor nurse, moving up to nurse manager, and then upon retirement returned as a triage nurse.
Betty’s heart and soul were in the times with her loved ones, traveling around the world with her family as well as her annual girls' trip with her nursing friends to Englewood, Florida. She also enjoyed Broadway shows, shopping, dining, and expressing her creativity through knitting and crocheting.
She will be missed more than words can ever say but her legacy will live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, and the many lives she has touched.
Visitation will be Friday, January 3, 2025, at Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA from 4 -7 P.M.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, January 4, 2025, from the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
