William P. “Bill” Grenier passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on December 26th. He was 69. Raised in Medford, Bill was the son of Ann M. (DeFlumeri) and the late Joseph Grenier.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Bill married his high school sweetheart, the former Donna Foley, and they enjoyed 47 years of a beautiful marriage. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the Air Force. After his discharge, Bill was appointed to the Arlington Fire Department, where he was both a dedicated firefighter and a true builder of community. At the AFD Bill developed many friendships, which lasted into retirement, as he got together regularly for lunch with fellow firefighters and their wives. Bill cherished all of his friendships and his family was very important to him. He often hung out with his buddies at McSheffrey’s Mobil in Medford. He also worked for a time as an EMT at the Armstrong Ambulance service. For fun, he enjoyed golfing and going to the casino. He was a fervent fan of the Bruins and the Patriots.
The beloved husband of Donna M. (Foley) Grenier of Malden, Bill was a devoted father to William D. Grenier and his wife Rachel of Medford, and to Janine Costa and her husband Jay of Malden. He was a loving grandfather to Lia Grenier. He was a dear brother-in-law to Carol Foley, and the dear son-in-law of the late Donald and Joyce Foley. He was a loving uncle to Donato DiPietrantonio and his wife Jessica, Bianca DiPietrantonio and her partner Andrew, and Joseph Grenier and his wife Kristen.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Thursday, January 2 from 4-8 PM and again on Friday, January 3 at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Chapel Hill Mausoleum, Malden.
