David John Pearce, Sr., 75, of Burnside, PA passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, surrounded by his family and loved ones, at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh.
The son of Cecil E. and Rhoda V. (Thomas) Pearce, he was born on June 10, 1949 in Spangler, PA.
David was a 1967 graduate of Purchase Line High School. He served as a Sergeant in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, from 1969 to 1971, and was a member of the Glen Campbell American Legion Post.
He married Carolyn E. Cain on March 21, 1982.
David worked for forty-five years as a foreman for several highway construction companies before retiring in 2016 from New Enterprise.
He greatly enjoyed being outdoors. He was a music enthusiast and an avid reader. In 2015, he battled and overcame cancer.
David is survived by his wife, Carolyn E. Pearce of Burnside, PA; his daughter, Crystal Griffith and husband Jake Griffith of Shelocta, PA; his son, David J. “Dutch” Pearce, Jr and fiancée Caitlin Robertson of Pittsburgh, PA; his two grandchildren: Kaitlyn Kinnan and Finnegan Robert Pearce; his sister, Connie Yingling and husband John of Cherry Tree, PA and his brother-in-law, Robert Freno of Burnside, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Linda Ann Fry and Cecile “Lynne” Freno.
A memorial will be held in David’s honor at the Glen Campbell American Legion on Saturday, January 11th, starting at 12 PM. Family and friends are encouraged to come and share their memories.
