Obituary

Marshall Coleman (age 68) passed away peacefully at MGH after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family on December 24, 2024, husband of Susan (Gillis) Coleman, father of Christopher Coleman and the late Jennifer (Coleman) Flaherty, Grandfather of Christian Coleman Flaherty and Olivia Coleman. Marshall was born to the late Helen (Roberts) and Marshall Coleman Sr. in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised in South Boston. A truly warm-hearted and loyal friend to many, his very full life included marrying the love of his life, Susan (Gillis). He worked hard, both as the sole proprietor of his Hair Salon as well as a longstanding member of the Teamsters, local 25 in Boston. Marshall loved spending his free time with family and friends at Ellis Haven campground and taking exciting vacations from Las Vegas to Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Mexico and everywhere in between. Marshall loved being in his pool and playing golf whenever he could. Marshall was a beloved pillar of his family, brother to the late Lilian Taylor, Gertrude Taylor Elaina (Coleman) Learning, Nola (Coleman)Crew, Simona (Coleman)Patterson, and survived by Ernest Taylor, Ronald Coleman and wife Diane, Saundra (Coleman) Albers and husband, James, John and Steven Coleman and his wife Kelly (Earner). Marshall was son in law to the late Ronald Gillis and Mary (Mansfield) Gillis, a beloved brother-in-law to Cindy (Gillis) DelValle and Juan DelValle, Danny and Tricia (Keaney) Gillis and the late Deborah “Dobie” (Gillis) Jenner, and Stephen Gillis . Marshall had many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly. Services will be held at Casper Funeral Home. 187 Dorchester St, South Boston on Sunday, December 29 from 2:00 to 5:00P.M
