Obituary

Pamela “Pam” Kay Urello, age 78, of Gales Ferry, died at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her family Dec. 23, 2024, from heart complications. She was born July 5, 1946, in Cumberland, Md., to Bernard and Margaret Hill of Ridgeley, W.Va.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, H. Patrick Urello; her four daughters: Jo Brown, Katherine Johns-Galvin (Kathleen), Shannon Johns Edwards, and Nikki Leavitt (Kevin); and stepdaughter Lori Morrissette (David). She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Sue Urello; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Paul Brown; stepson Christopher Urello; parents; sister JoAnne DeTorre; and brother Bernie Hill. The center of Pam’s life was always her family - husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she absolutely adored. Her love for them was unconditional and was exhibited in her passions: baking (with grandchildren), cooking, and sewing many outfits for them throughout the years that they cherish to this day. She spent what time she had left in a day, as a champion for her children and grandchildren at sporting events, school plays and countless other activities over the years.
Professionally, along with raising her beautiful family, she was a Navy wife for over 30 years and worked for the federal government for over 20 years. She worked her way through various management positions, in spite of having to move and change jobs every few years, culminating in her role as Deputy Inspector General for the U.S. Navy’s Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, Va., and eventually retiring in 2002.
Pam’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic. A service at the funeral Home will be held the following day, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025. Burial will be private.
