On Christmas morning December 25, 2024 Sylvia E. (MacIntyre) Hearne, age 92, quietly passed.
Sylvia was born in Happs Hospital on Reading Avenue in Barrington. She spent her childhood on
Lawrence Ave, attended Culbertson School and graduated from Haddon Heights High School. Sylvia
married James J. Hearne and together they raised their family on Kingston Ave.
Sylvia was a very active member in the church and community. She was a member of the Presbyterian
Church where she served as an Elder. Using her office management skills, she supported many Barrington
organizations including the Historical Society, Ladies Auxiliary of the Fire Company, Woman’s Club, and
Civic Association. Sylvia logged many hours volunteering at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden.
For this lifetime of community work, Sylvia received a Volunteer of the Year award.
Sylvia is survived by her children, 3 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and
nephews. A celebration of her life will take place this Spring in New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made the Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights.
