LIMINGTON- Irma May Thombs Pomerleau, aged 97, passed away on December 24, 2024, at Ledgewood Manor in Windham, Maine. Irma was born on August 24, 1927, in Limington, Maine. She graduated from Potter Academy in 1947. She worked at various jobs throughout her life, including positions at Sylvania and Sebago Shoe, from which she retired.
Irma was a loving mother who single-handedly raised three children, instilling in them the values of hard work and dedication to family. She lived a long and full life and was known for her strong will and her love for anything Elvis Presley related. She is survived by her children, Dennis Pomerleau of North Carolina, Philip Pomerleau and his wife Kim of Standish, Maine and Norma Long and her husband George of Limington, Maine. Irma also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a few great great-grandchildren who will miss her considerably.
Irma was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Lillian Pomerleau, her twin brother Irving Thombs, her siblings Hazel Bailey, Helen Wilson, and Raymond Thombs and a grandson Jeremy Long.
Throughout her life, Irma enjoyed playing bingo, going on car rides, traveling (including trips to Florida and Hawaii), attending family gatherings of any kind, and spending quality time with her family; all activities that brought her much joy and contentment.
A celebration of Irma's life will be held in the spring, honoring her memory and the impact she had on those around her.
