DRACUT - Lorraine F. (Ryan) Young, age 81, a retiree of St. John’s Hospital in Lowell, died
Sunday morning, August 6, at the Willow Manor in Lowell, after a long period of declining
health.
She was born in East Boston, December 5, 1924, a daughter of the late Charles and Frances
(Maze) Ryan, and was raised in East Boston. She lived in Wilmington and East Boston the
greater part of her life, and moved to Dracut in 1979.
She was employed at Saint John’s Hospital, now Saints Memorial Medical Center, central supply
department until her retirement.
In her retirement, she enjoyed Bingo, and was fond of her role as a foster-grandparent at the
Brookside Elementary School in Dracut.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Valentine and her husband Richard of
GA, Joan Carrico and her husband Kenneth of OH, Mary Williams and her husband Robert
“Butch” of NC, and Patricia Regan and her husband David of Pelham, NH; a sister, Eileen
Anderson of Tewksbury, a brother, Charles W. Ryan of Billerica; ten grandchildren; and nine
great grandchildren.
She was also sister of the late Paul R. Ryan, and Robert Ryan.
Her Funeral Service was held in the
funeral home Wednesday, Aug. 9, followed by burial in Tewksbury Cemetery.
