Obituary

Pamela Jean Holman (née. Smith), 73, of Norton (and formerly Bellingham), Massachusetts, passed away following an 11-year battle with breast cancer that ended on Dec 24, 2024 after metastasizing to her bones over the past two years. She was the wife of Scott J. Holman. Born in Framingham, MA on May 23rd, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Nelson E. and Elizabeth "Betty" Ruth Smith (née Kenrick).

Pam grew up in Bellingham, was educated in the Bellingham school system, and graduated Bellingham High School following the business curriculum, with her class of 1969. Following high school, Pam pursued a career as an office clerk at Dennison's in Framingham for nearly a decade and then worked at W. A. Wilde in Holliston as head proofreader until the birth of her son in 1992. She then became a stay-at-home mom, volunteering at the Norton Public Library and J.C. Solmonese Elementary School for a few years and became the president of the Friends of the Norton Public Library in the early 2000s. She was then employed as the church sexton at Norton's Trinitarian Congregational Church from 2004 until her early retirement in 2023, due to health reasons.

Prior to her marriage and move to Norton, Pam was formerly a member of the First Baptist Church in Bellingham, MA and the First Baptist Church of Holliston, MA, where she was married in 1989.
She was an active participant in numerous activities at Trinitarian Congregational Church, and with vast experience with private yard sales at both the Norton and Grafton Flea Markets and online auctions, she was able to coordinate and organize the White Elephant Room during yearly church fairs for the past 20 years. She believed in the worth of her co-volunteers' labor while also keeping her prices fair for those less fortunate.

Pam had a passion as a collector of Cabbage Patch and Barbie dolls, Lucy & Me bear figurines, Beanie Babies, Peeps, flamingo memorabilia and lastly Fairy Garden figurines. She was proud of her garden in the backyard which she cultivated from a flat, barren dirt patch to a place overflowing with flowers and her beloved fairy garden over a period of 22 years.

She would take care of cats for friends away on vacation, but was particularly fond of the late neighborhood cat, Ducky.

She was also a lover of 50's & 60's Rock & Roll music, and in particular The Beatles. She was very knowledgeable of The Beatles history, had a small collection of their memorabilia, and was so thrilled to have attended a tribute band concert as if it was 1964. She had a passion for nostalgia of her youth in Bellingham and fond memories of her trip to Europe in the early 70's. She briefly served 3 weeks at basic training in Texas for the Air Force in 1976.

She loved the Three Stooges and had their best years on DVD. She had a collection of all the vintage Christmas movies and 60's-70's television Christmas specials and to get into the Christmas spirit each year she would watch every one of them. In her later years she also had a passion for vintage television shows which included games, sitcoms, westerns, crime dramas, Masterpiece Theater and The Antique Roadshow.

She was also an avid book lover, preferring mysteries and drama. She loved spending time in the summer under her umbrella in the backyard or in her bed at night, reading her books. When finished she would always share them with her friends.

She had a 60-year pen pal relationship with Janice Pitkethley of Coatbridge, Scotland, who would always give Pam a celebratory phone call on New Year's Day. Janice was also a pen pal to late actor Leonard Nimoy's parents and on one of Janice's trips they had an opportunity to visit them at their home in Milton, MA. Pam always treasured that opportunity.

She is survived by her loving husband, Scott, her devoted son, Jeffrey, her dear sisters Amber and Sharon of Florida, and in-laws, nieces and nephews around the country. She was predeceased by her younger sister, Wendy of Idaho.

A memorial service will be held at Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton, MA on Saturday, February 1st at 1:30 pm to be followed by a collation in Fellowship Hall at the church.
