Obituary




Stephen B. Pyne, of Mansfield, MA passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, December 23, 2024 at the age of 81 after a long battle with cancer.

Stephen was the loving and devoted husband to Frances for 55 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters Andrea Hottleman and her husband Thomas of Mansfield and Carolyn Bohnenberger and her husband George of Foxborough. He was a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren, Alicia, Matthew, Rebecca Hottleman and Kate and Michael Bohnenberger. He was a beloved brother to Julianne Pyne Jordan of Scituate.

Stephen grew up in Hingham, MA graduating from Hingham High School in 1961. Then attended University of Massachusetts Amherst graduating in 1965. He served as a member of the US Coast Guard Reserve from 1966 - 1973.

He began his 55 year long career in the dairy industry at the age of 15 delivering milk for Hornstra Farms in Hingham. After graduating college he continued his career in the dairy industry working for many producers including Hood, Cumberland Farms, West Lynn Creamery, finally retiring as Vice President of Production from Dairy Marketing Services in 2012.

Stephen was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for 42 years holding many positions. Served as the treasurer of the Southeastern Massachusetts Model A Ford Club. Served as a member of the Mansfield Natural Resource Trust. Maintained a real estate broker license for over 55 years. He had many interests and hobbies throughout his life. At home there was always a flock of chickens in the backyard and raised turkeys annually. He enjoyed gardening and meticulously maintained perennial gardens around his home. What he enjoyed the most in life was connecting with people and was remarkable at maintaining relationships with those he met. His calendar was always full of activities in which he was spending time with family, friends and the organizations he was involved with. He and his wife traveled extensively around the world. Eventually spending winters at their home in Fort Myers.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his funeral service that will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 116 South Street, Foxborough on Saturday, January 4th at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stephen Pyne may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 116 South Main Street, Foxborough, MA 02035.
