Tamatha Ruth “Tammy” Wright, 54, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Monday, December 30, 2024, at Frank Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, with Elder Chad O’Quinn officiating. Interment will follow in the Frank Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Tammy was born March 26, 1970 in Georgia, to the late Hugh Lee Richey, Jr. and Mary Horne Richey. She was raised in Hawkinsville and graduated from Hawkinsville High School in 1989. Tammy was very close with her friends from high school and stayed in contact with them until her passing. Tammy graduated from Ben-Hill Irwin Technical College with degrees in Accounting and Bookkeeping. Tammy was an employee of Sunnydale Training Center for over 35 years where she was the accounting and billing clerk.
She married Andrew “Andy” Paul Wright on December 16, 2003 and they celebrated their 21st anniversary this year. Tammy was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. She and Andy raised two beautiful children: Mary Tallee and Andrew Clyde. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved her children more than anything in the world. She was always baking brownies or cookies for her children’s classes. Tammy was known for her brownies, red velvet cake and key lime cake. Tammy was an avid Irwin County Indian football fan as well as Ga. Tech football. She enjoyed reading, collecting angels, watching Hallmark Christmas movies and HGTV. Tammy was always thinking of other people before herself and would help anyone.
