Norman M. Hodgman, 70, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, December 26, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Ray Johnson and the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Sturgeon Creek Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday.
Mr. Hodgman was born July 21, 1954, in Ocala, Florida, to the late Elder Samuel Norman & Mary Gwendolyn Weaver Hodgman. He was honorably discharged after 10 years of service in the United States Navy as a submariner. He worked for Shaw Industries for many years. He then went on to do other various jobs such as mobile home repair, truck driving and as a CSX Railroad conductor before retiring. Mr. Hodgman enjoyed working on MOPAR Hot Rods, hunting, fishing, spending time with family, and spoiling his grandkids. He was a member of Sturgeon Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruby Cook Hodgman of Fitzgerald; two daughters and sons-in-law: Amy & Camaron Davis of Fitzgerald and Melinda & Bryan Abell of Ocilla; grandchildren: Chloe Davis, Caleb Abell, and Landon Abell; siblings and their spouses: Jenny & Tom Hansel of Hayesville, North Carolina, Gary & Tanya Hodgman of Greenville, Texas, Mary & Jay Williams of Del Rio, Tennessee, and Matt Hodgman & Margaret Roche of Estero, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Hodgman.
