Obituary

Margaret (Pegi) DiSalvatore was the youngest of three children born to Herbert Sonia and Frances Cody and raised in Boston, MA. She is preceded in death by her brother Charles (Chas) Sonia and Elizabeth (Betty) Sheridan.
She first met her husband Richard when she was 16 years old. His aunt lived in the same triple decker as her family, and he was there visiting. She first saw him sitting outside on the stoop with her sister Betty but later told her mom that she was going to marry him one day. That day was Sept 27, 1957. They spent 47 years together before his death in 2004.

Within the first four years of marriage, they were blessed with four sons: twins Richard (Rick) and Anthony (Tony), followed by Joseph (Joe) then Robert (Bob). Pegi did not know how to drive but that never stopped her from packing up her four boys and taking them on many adventures through Boston. Castle Island, Franklin Park Zoo, and the Enchanted Village at Jordan Marsh during Christmas were just a few of the places they visited. Seven years after her son Bob was born, she had a daughter Traci-Ann. Peggy loved all her children equally, but she had a special bond with her daughter as they were two girls in a house full of boys.

During the years that the kids were growing up, Pegi and Dick wanted to move to the suburbs from Dorchester. They found an old Victorian in Malden that everyone told them they were crazy to buy but they did and made a home for their large family with her mom and her common law husband Jim living there too. The house needed love, and they painstakingly updated and repaired it along with all the boys helping out and learning how to renovate a 120-year-old house.

The family took a vacation to a new theme park in Orlando FL in the summer of 1972. Pegi found her happy place as soon as she walked through the gates and saw the castle at the end of Main St. She vowed that someday she would live in Florida and work there.

After all their kids grew up and moved out, they decided to see the country and sold the old Victorian and another house they bought in Stoneham and moved to Washington state and then to Florida. Although they were retired, they got part time jobs at the famous family vacation spot in Orlando and found new careers that they loved and wanted to never leave. Pegi found her new family at her work and always said that this was her happy place.

Pegi moved back to Boston in 2006 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. As much as she loved living in Florida, it wasn't that same without her beloved husband, and she missed being near her family. She was so happy that she could reconnect with her grandchildren in Boston, Ellen, Lauren, Michael, and Darian and all her great grandchildren. She also is survived by her grandsons in Montana Christopher DiSalvatore. She was predeceased by her grandson Andrew DiSalvatore of Montana.
