Edward C. Ellis, Sr., age 79, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the Alliance Health at Maples in Wrentham. He was the beloved husband of Margaret E. “Peg” (Horne) Ellis, to whom he was wed on June 29, 1968.
Born in Norwood, MA on July 29, 1945, he was a loving son of the late James Ellis and Emily (Wiggin) Eddy.
Ed grew up in Walpole, was educated in Walpole schools and was a graduate of the Norfolk Agricultural High School in Walpole. A resident of Mansfield for the past forty-six years, Ed was a retired supervisor, having worked at the Foley Vending Company in Norwood and for many years was employed at Aramark Vending in Braintree.
Edward’s favorite times were those spent with his adoring family and being outdoors. He loved activities on the water, especially fishing and his other hobbies included waterskiing, scuba diving, snow skiing and many years with family around the campfire. He was also well-known for cutting and splitting the wood that warmed his home in Mansfield for forty years.
In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, he is survived by his devoted children, Edward C. Ellis, Jr. and his wife Catherine of Fall River and Tracey A. Foti and her husband William of Mansfield. He was the dear brother of Bertell Ellis of Wareham, Francis Ellis of Florida, Emily Cahill of Oklahoma and the late James Ellis and Vivian Webb. He is also survived by his cherished 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
