Wanda (Krukiel) Harris, 89, of Whitman, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024, following a brief illness.
Born on October 29, 1935, to John and Rosa Krukiel, Wanda grew up in Rockland, Massachusetts. There, she met her late husband, Melvin H. Harris, whom she married on June 13, 1953. Their journey together began in Abington, where they built a loving home and started their family. Following a move to Millington, Tennessee, they ultimately settled in Whitman in 1969.
For many years, Wanda operated a successful home-based hair salon. She cherished time spent with her friends and family. Travel was a passion for Wanda and Mel in their younger years, and they cherished their adventures together. They especially enjoyed their weekly excursions to Foxwoods Casino. Wanda's love for the casino remained a constant, even after Mel's passing, as she continued to enjoy trips with friends.
Preceded in death by her devoted husband of 68 years, Mel, Wanda leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her three children: Kenneth W. Harris of Hanson, Wanda J. Salvatore and her husband, Arnold, of South Weymouth, and Roger A. Harris and his wife, Michelle, of Marshfield. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Wanda is also survived by her siblings: Genevieve Newhall of East Bridgewater, Jenny Lankiewicz of Brockton, and John Krukiel and his wife, Carol, of Rockland.
A private service will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, where Wanda will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Mel.
