It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of beloved wife and mother Mrs. Helen Victoria (Buttigieg) Hopkins, a longtime resident of Medford. Helen, wife of Paul Gerard Hopkins for 55 years, passed on Wednesday morning, December 18, 2024. She was 82 years old.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Helen was the dearly loved daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Borg) Buttigieg II. Raised in Dearborn, Michigan, Helen was a graduate of Edsel Ford High School and Michigan State University. She had been employed as a Kindergarten Teacher in Lexington Public Schools for more than 35 years.
Besides her beloved husband, Paul, Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Joseph and his wife Paulina Hopkins of Woburn, grandchildren Elliot and Vivian Hopkins, late sister Mary Robinson and husband Richard of Medford and brother Joseph Buttigieg III and wife Danielle of Boca Raton, FL.
Known as “Gram” to her grandchildren and “Auntie Helen” to most of her large extended family, Helen was a doting, loving grandmother, devout Catholic and extremely proud of her Maltese heritage. She was a thoughtful and kind person who always put the needs of family and friends before her own. Helen will be forever missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors.
