Obituary

HOLYOKE - Raymond E. St. Jacques, 82, of Holyoke was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He passed into Eternal Life at his home with his loving wife, Darleen by his side, as the result of a debilitating stroke he suffered 12 years ago. He was born in Springfield on September 16, 1942, a beloved son of the late Elphege and Delcia M. (Arpin) St. Jacques. He was raised in the Brightwood section and later the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and graduated from the former Springfield Trade High School. He furthered his education and took some college courses. He moved to the Feeding Hills section of Agawam in 1966 where he lived until moving to Holyoke in 2006. Ray served in the Army Reserves. He was a skilled machinist and worked for many of the local machine shops in the area. He was the co-founder of Target Precision of Springfield and President and Founder of Raymond Industries in Agawam. He later was the Vice-President and co-owner of Nucom, Inc. in Great Barrington. He last worked at Advance Manufacturing in Westfield. He was an excellent cook, owned race horses, and enjoyed pheasant hunting and traveling. He enjoyed vacationing in the Caribbean in the winter months and the Rhode Island beaches in the summer. His home was the headquarters for all the holiday gatherings. He helped anyone who needed his assistance. Ray was always busy planning for his next adventure. Most of all, he loved his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife, Darleen D. (St. Peter) St. Jacques. They were married on November 12,1966 at the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. Besides his wife, he leaves his two loving and devoted sons, Jayson R. St. Jacques, MD and his wife, Celeste, of Southwick, and Shaun R. St. Jacques and Lillian Eng, of Feeding Hills; his four cherished granddaughters who he adored, Nicole, Annette, and Michelle St. Jacques, and Melena St. Jacques; his dear brother-in-law, Norman St. Peter and his wife, Paula, of Arlington, TX; his dear sister-in-law, Jan St. Peter of Palm Coast, FL; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Kristen Brown of Texas, Travis St. Peter of Texas, Dennis Groleau of Chester, Christopher St. Peter of California and Matthew St. Peter, MD of Oregon. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his dear sister, Lorraine (St. Jacques) Groleau; his dear nephew, David Groleau, and his dear brother-in-law, Gary Robert St. Peter. His family would like to thank James and Michelle for their daily care and the loving support of Ray that enabled him to stay at home. A Graveside Committal Service will be held in the spring of 2025 at Saint Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Avenue, Indian Orchard, MA 01151.
