WEBSTER – Stella B. (Bogdanowicz) Miller, 100, died Wednesday, December 18, 2024 in UMass Memorial University Campus after a period of declining health. Her husband of 51 years, Peter P. Miller, died in 1996.
She leaves a son, Stephen P. Miller and his wife Rebecca of Webster; 4 grandchildren, Jesse Miller of Hanover, MD, Peter Miller and his wife Danielle of Baltimore, MD, Stephanie Mendoza and her husband David, and Robert Thomas, all of Claremont, CA; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Mendoza; nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her daughter Christine Thomas in 2017, by her sister Barbara Petrie and by her brother Charles Bogdanowicz.
She was born at home in Dudley on July 23, 1924 the middle child of Stephen C. and Mary (Niedbala) Bogdanowicz and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1942. She completed secretarial studies at Becker Junior College.
She first worked at the Rationing Board in Webster where she met her future husband. She then was a rate clerk at Wajer’s Express in Dudley for over 35 years, retiring in 1987.
She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica and a member of its Sacred Heart Society. She loved to teach line dancing and was a long-time member of the Silver Dippers. Besides being a cub scout den mother, she was very involved in leadership roles in the girl scout program here for many years. After retiring she enjoyed traveling.
Her funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 23, in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street (please meet at church). Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. A time of visitation will be held from 10:30 AM on Monday until the time of the Mass. Donations in her memory may be made to Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570.
