Obituary

Worcester: Joan D. (Lundberg) LaBonte, 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at home. She leaves her son Michael LaBonte and his wife Barbara of Barton, Vt.; son Mark LaBonte and his wife Patricia of Worcester; and her daughter, Suzanne J. Hall, her primary caregiver, and her husband Wayne of Worcester; seven grandchildren: Daniel Hall, Alex Hall, Nancy Lihvarcik, Lindsey DeFreese, Steven DeFreese, Amber LaBonte and Matthew LaBonte; four step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren; brothers Robert Lundberg, wife Rita of Charllton their son Robert Jr and Kenneth Lundberg, wife Margaret of Worcester and their 2 sons Brian and Joesph. She also leaves her sister-in-law Lorriane Champlin and her children William, Paul, Lisa and Jennifer She was predeceased by her husband Ronald LaBonte who passed in 2015. They were married for 58 years

Joan was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Ivar and Jane (Gosk) Lundberg. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked as an unemployment manager for the Commonwealth of MA. She was a member of St. George Church and enjoyed going to the casino, playing pitch, in her younger years she enjoyed camping with family and friends and traveling. She leaves many friends who meant so much to her, including Liz Hill who helped care for her, her friend Lester and Joan.

At Joan’s request, there are no services. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to WARL 139 Holden St. Worcester, MA 01606 or to UMASS Philanthropy 365 Plantation St. Worcester, MA 01605 in honor of Dan Hall’s “Special Nanny” .
