Obituary

Gorham/Fryeburg Maine ~ Edwin Tenney Brooks 86 passed peacefully, surrounded by love on December 16, 2024.

Born October 26, 1938, a child of the late Albert and Ada Brooks, he grew up on the family farm in Brownfield, Maine. After attending Fryeburg Academy, he joined the US Navy. Upon returning from the service, he attended the University of Maine, Orono. He then owned and operated his own farm, after which, he went to work for the State of Maine DOT as a Highway Inspector for many years.

Ed married the love of his life Sharon Lombard and they were married for 56 years before she passed in 2020. They raised two daughters and became cherished and loved by many others that their lives touched. He was always ready to receive and give a hug.

He loved being at his happy place, the family camp on Lovewell Pond. Many hours were spent enjoying the view, good times with family and friends, and all the area had to offer. Many on camp road joined him daily for "happy hour" on the deck to laugh and swap stories.

Ed loved being a good steward of the land, which was very important to him as was his love of trees. He also enjoyed old tractors, old trucks, hot coffee and cold beer.

He is predeceased by his wife Sharon Brooks and daughter Juli B Settlemire.

Ed is survived by his daughter Stephanie Brooks-Young and her husband Guy Young, son-in-law Todd Settlemire and chosen family.

A celebration of life will be held at a future time.
