With deep sadness, the family of Christopher Jay Huffman announces his passing on December 4th, 2024, in Ventura, California, after an 8-month battle with cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones and favorite music.
Chris was born in Encino, California on February 24th, 1959, to James Jay Huffman and Kathryn “Katie” Jo Benson.
Chris was a gentle, compassionate man who was easily liked and natural to love. His sly wit, hidden behind his kind smile, made him everyone’s favorite to be around. He touched many people through his artistic abilities as a musician, or just a kind gesture that moved people deeply. He was an avid movie buff, always up on the latest news and keeping up with the political quandaries. Chris was excited he was able to see the Dodgers beat the Giants in the World Series.
Chris was survived by his wife Julie Ann Huffman (stepsons: Matthew Thomas and Nicholas Daniel Slough), three daughters: Jennifer Suzanne Gunner (Michael), Sarah Kathryn Milano (David), and Emily Rose Schweitzer (Chad). He was the Grandfather “Pop-Pop” to Jonathan and Sammy Gunner, and Henry Schweitzer. Sister, Laura Carver and brother, David Huffman. He spent the last 10 years working for the City of Ventura as the Network Administrator, retiring just one year before his passing.
