Donald Wayne Hester, 80, of Omega passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at his residence. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Hester at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Christopher House will officiate with a eulogy to be given by Dorise H. Yancey.
Ethan Hester, Elijah Hester, Jess Lindsey, Butch Hosey, Brad Lindsey and Jody Speight will serve as pallbearers.
Born August 25, 1944, in Tift County, Mr. Hester was the son of the late Samuel Alton “Bud” Hester and Willie Mae Newell Hester. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Vercie Howell Hester; one daughter, Karen Renee Hester; and one brother and sister-in-law, James and Lynne Hester. He graduated from Omega High School and, before retiring, he was a salesman for Frito Lay.
Mr. Hester is survived by his wife, Sue Lindsey Hester of Omega; one son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Kim Hester of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Tim Coleman of Madison, Mississippi; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Freddie Kelly, Brenda Gershon and Harold Rutland, Peggy and John Lindsey and Shirlene Goodrich, all of Tifton; and two grandchildren, Samuel Ethan and Malaya Hester of Bryan, Texas and Sidney Elijah Hester of Tifton.
