- Pauline E. Libbey, formerly of Freedom, NH, age 105, passed?
? away at the Merriman House on December 15, 2024.?
? She was born October 20, 1919 to parents Roger and Bernice (Bishop) Emerson?
? in Chatham, New Hampshire.?
? After graduating from Fryeburg Academy in 1939, Pauline attended Concord?
? Commercial College. She looked forward to, and attended many of her class?
? reunions at the Academy.?
? Pauline married Kenneth Libbey in 1945. They lived on their farm on Cushing?
? Corner Road til his passing in 1992. Eventually, she moved to Freedom Village,?
? and then to a retirement community in Dover, NH. Later she returned to Conway,?
? and finally to the Merriman House. Special thanks go to the staff there, who are?
? skilled and caring.?
? In her adult years she worked for the New Hampshire Bureau of Health and the?
? Department of Welfare from 1941 to 1972.?
? She enjoyed working for local community organizations and helping the less?
? fortunate. She was a member of the Freedom Historical Society and the First?
? Christian Church of Freedom. Through the latter, she worked with the Ladies?
? Guild, an organization which makes and donates quilts for the elderly and?
? newborns.?
? Pauline enjoyed traveling with senior organizations, family gatherings (her holiday?
? meals were a sight to behold), and the many cats she had in her life. She was also?
? an avid reader, and enjoyed researching family history. Everyone who was a part of?
? her life, or only briefly met Pauline, remarked on how delightful she was. Her?
? kindness, spunk and sense of humor left their mark on so many.?
? Recently, Pauline was proud to be the recipient of the Boston Post Cane for?
? Conway, New Hampshire.?
? Pauline is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Libbey, her parents Roger?
? and Bernice (Bishop) Emerson, her siblings- Roger Emerson Jr., Chesley Emerson,?
? Joseph Emerson, Elizabeth Stiles, and Ralph Emerson, and a niece, Ellen Demers.?
? She is survived by her nieces and nephews- Joseph Emerson II, Kathleen Fuller,?
? Laurie Fenter, Deborah Emerson, Denise Bowley, Alan Emerson, Arnold Emerson,?
? Duane Emerson, and Donna DeAngelo, her sister-in-law Mabel Hidden, and many?
? grand nieces and nephews.?
? Per her request, there will be no public services. A graveside service will be held?
? privately in the spring.?
? Arrangements have been entrusted to the Poitras, Neal, & York Funeral Home, 71?
