Obituary

Conway, N.H.- Pauline E. Libbey, formerly of Freedom, NH, age 105, passed away at the Merriman House on December 15, 2024.
She was born October 20, 1919, to parents Roger and Bernice (Bishop) Emerson in Chatham, New Hampshire.
After graduating from Fryeburg Academy in 1939, Pauline attended Concord Commercial College. She looked forward to and attended many of her class reunions at the Academy. Pauline married Kenneth Libbey in 1945. They lived on their farm on Cushing Corner Road till his passing in 1992. Eventually, she moved to Freedom Village, and then to a retirement community in Dover, NH. Later
she returned to Conway, and finally to the Merriman House. Special thanks go to the staff there, who are skilled and caring. In her adult years she worked for the New Hampshire Dept. of Welfare.
She enjoyed working for local community organizations and helping the less fortunate. She was a member of the Freedom Historical Society and the First Christian Church of Freedom. Through the latter, she worked with the Ladies Guild, an organization which makes and donates quilts for the elderly and newborns.
Pauline enjoyed traveling with senior organizations, family gatherings (her holiday
meals were a sight to behold), and the many cats she had in her life. She was also
an avid reader and enjoyed researching family history. Everyone who was a part of her life, or only briefly met Pauline, remarked on how delightful she was. Her kindness, spunk and sense of humor left their mark on so many.
Recently, Pauline was proud to be the recipient of the Boston Post Cane for Conway, New Hampshire.
Pauline is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Libbey, her parents Roger and Bernice (Bishop) Emerson, her siblings- Roger Emerson Jr., Chesley Emerson, Joseph Emerson, Elizabeth Stiles, and Ralph Emerson, and a niece, Ellen Demers. She is survived by her nieces and nephews- Joseph Emerson II, Kathleen Fuller, Laurie Fenter, Deborah Emerson, Denise Bowley, Alan Emerson, Arnold Emerson, Duane Emerson, and Donna DeAngelo, her sister-in-law Mabel Hidden, and many grand nieces and nephews.
Per her request, there will be no public services. A graveside service will be held
privately in the spring.
