Obituary

Dominic J. Cucinotta passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on December 13th. He was 82. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, Dominic was the son of the late Joseph and Stefana (Russo) Cucinotta.

Dominic was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. After growing up in the North End, he moved to Medford over 45 years ago. He maintained his roots in the North End, but also developed deep friendships in his new hometown. He was a member of the St. Anthony Club for over 55 years, where he was as a past vice president and past sergeant at arms.

As a teenager Dominic began working at an electrical supply company, soon becoming a supervisor there. From there he went to work at MIT, where he was a custodian, bringing cleanliness and joy to the halls of that institution. The relationships he built there lasted until his passing, as he would go out monthly with his former co-workers for breakfast. He both enjoyed food and knew that eating was a great way to bring people together. Dominic often spent his free time rooting for the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Another “sport” he followed was politics. Dominic was a faithful newspaper reader.

The beloved husband of Vita (Vultaggio) Cucinotta, he was a devoted father to Joseph Cucinotta and his wife Anne (Kearney) of Danvers and Nicholas Cucinotta of North Andover. He was a loving Nonno to Mary Rosaria and Dominic Joseph Cucinotta. He was a dear brother to Nina Maiella and her husband Joseph, Josephine Ciaccio and her husband Leonard, and the late Mary (Cucinotta) Tavilla, He was a dear brother-in-law of the late Nicholas Vultaggio and his surviving wife Irene Vultaggio of Murrieta, CA, and of the late Nora (Vultaggio) Rigione. Dominic is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, December 20 from 4-8 PM and again on Saturday, December 21 at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Saint Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford at 10 AM.
