Full obituary
Reissfelder, Robert "Bob" Henry of Dedham, United States Army Veteran, Retired Dedham Firefighter, passed December 14, 2024 age 83. Son of the late, Robert & Anna Reissfelder, Son in law of the late Sadie & John Contrada. Beloved husband of Joanne (Contrada) Reissfelder. He married his high school sweetheart and they were together for 62 years plus. He adored his wife and for most of those years they went out every Saturday night for dinner known as their date night.
He was a loving, caring & supportive Dad to Robert Reissfelder Jr., of Dedham, Richard Reissfelder and wife Christine of Dedham, Lisa Heffernan and husband Bob of Mansfield, Denise Downing-Foley of Foxboro. Devoted grandfather to Michael Downing & wife Samantha, Courtney & Sarah Foley, James Heffernan & wife Megan, Jillian Heffernan, Josh Reissfelder & wife Carolyn, Jake Reissfelder and the late Brenna Reissfelder, & great grandfather of Riley, Luke, and Dalton. Robert also leaves his siblings, Shirley Maguire & late husband Frank, Barbara Murphy, Judy David and husband Bo, Donny Reissfelder & wife Marcia. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who he adored and vice versa.
Bob worked for many years as a firefighter and self employed as a painter. He also worked at Faulkner Hospital in the Painters Union. He was a hard worker providing for his family. Bob was determined in anything he set forth to do even when it came to survival. He was referred to as a Cat with nine lives. If you told him he couldn’t do something he’d do it ten-fold. Bob ran the Boston marathon in 1980 as he was greeted at the finish line by his wife and four children. Bob had dedication and took pride in his family. He loved being around people and cracking jokes or pulling pranks even if he didn’t know you. He liked a good conversation or telling you all about his hometown of Dedham and the Island of Riverdale where he was born & raised. One way or another he touched the hearts of others. The relationships he had with his children were remarkable. The relationships he held with his grandchildren were one of a kind. They referred to him as “Buppa.”
Bob will sorely be missed especially seeing him in the garage, in his recliner with the newspaper, out at gatherings and at the head of the table for dinners. We are most grateful for all of the memories he gave us. May Heaven be lit up with his smile and laughter for his loved ones to enjoy again.
