Shirley A. Nesmith, of Derry, NH passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born October 6, 1947 in East Derry to the late Earl F. and Mary (Hayes) Warren Sr. Derry became Shirley's lifelong home as she grew up and raised her family there. Shirley graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1965 and from Fazio's School of Beauty. She made a career as a hair stylist and cosmetologist before being a stay at home Mom. Later, Shirley was employed by the Derry School District where she worked at Grinnell Elementary School for over 30 years in Food Service, enjoying time with students and preparing breakfast and lunch for them.
Shirley was an avid reader and loved talking about books with her daughter Jennifer. She was talented in anything she did including any crafts, especially knitting, making beautiful and special gifts for people. Shirley was a terrific baker and cook. The beach, being one of her favorite places brought her sun, peace and relaxation. Many days were spent with her mother, sisters and daughter at the beach. Most of all, being a wonderful mother to her daughter and special Mimi to her two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emma, were her greatest joys in life. Shirley was a kind, selfless woman who was loved by many people.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Gene Nesmith of Derry; her daughter, Jennifer Malone and her husband Patrick of Hooksett, NH; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Malone and Emma Malone, both of Hooksett; her sister, Priscilla L. Taylor of Auburn; as well as many nieces and nephews. Shirley is predeceased by her parents, Earl F. Warren Sr. and Mary Warren, her brother, Earl F. Warren Jr. and her sister, Rosemary Nicoll.
The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry have assisted the family with arrangements. Though there will not be any formal services, we remember Shirley with love and gratitude by honoring her in our hearts and thoughts.
