Obituary

The family of Anne Mary Baker (1939-2024) of Needham, MA, formerly of Ridgewood, NJ, is saddened to share that she passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2024. Anne was born and raised in London, England, where she attended Vidal Sassoon’s first hair salon school as a young woman. In 1958, Anne married Ken Baker, and they had two daughters -- Kim and Lynn -- within the first few years of their marriage. In 1967, the young Baker family relocated to America, where Anne’s third daughter, Tanya, was born in New York City in 1969. In 1975, the Baker’s moved their three daughters to Ridgewood, NJ, where Anne worked as a homemaker, caring for her daughters and attending countless school events. Following her divorce from Ken after 21 years of marriage, Anne forged ahead in a new career in healthcare to support her family. She served at the Christian Healthcare Center in Wyckoff, NJ for 34 years, earning her way to a supervisory position. Anne will be remembered for her selflessness, warmth, kindness, work ethic, strength, and optimism.

Anne is survived by her three daughters: Kim Neary and her husband Brian, Lynn Baker, and Tanya Capello and her husband Jeff; five grandchildren: Sean O’Connor and his wife Katie, Casey Boylan and her husband Neil, Christian Capello, Tyler Capello, and Reid Capello; and three great-grandchildren: Parker O’Connor, Logan O’Connor, and Shay Boylan; and her brother James Murphy and his wife Sylvia. Anne is predeceased by her parents, Jim and Eileen Murphy.

The funeral will be held at Saint Paul’s Church in Wellesley, MA on Thursday, December 19 at 10 a.m. A celebration of life reception will be hosted at The Wellesley Country Club’s Kingsbury Room following the mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The American Heart Association, heart.org
