Obituary

Bobbie June (Kostryk) Hopkins, 58, of Commodore, PA passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024 at the UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh, PA.

The daughter of Robert Nickolas Kostryk and Betty Ruth (Roberts) Kostryk, she was born on April 10, 1966 in Pontiac, Michigan.

Bobbie was a 1984 graduate of the Purchase Line High School.

On September 20, 1986, she married Daniel George Hopkins. Bobbie and Dan shared over thirty-eight years of marriage together and their family grew to include three children: Niki, Robert and Samantha.

A professional seamstress, Bobbie owned and operated Atrium Alterations first in Indiana, PA and then later from her home in Green Township.

However, Bobbie’s heart was most filled with joy when focusing her time, talents and attention on her family by creating a welcoming and loving home and being a devoted grandmother surrounded by her seven grandchildren.

An all-around outdoorswoman, Bobbie thoroughly loved being out in nature, especially when she was hunting; gardening and spending time by the pool.

Bobbie was immensely gifted with an innate capacity for creativity in all aspects of her life.

Accomplished at whittling, she crafted walking sticks with intricate carvings that are treasured by her family. Equally at ease in her kitchen, Bobbie canned the majority of her harvest from the vegetable garden each year, so that it could be enjoyed by her family all year long.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #2141 in Dixonville, PA and enjoyed participating in their projects.

Bobbie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel George Hopkins of Commodore, PA; her three children: Niki Sophia Misko of Commodore, PA; Robert Daniel Hopkins and wife, Nicole of Plumville, PA and Samantha Louise Turner and husband, Andy of Mahaffey, PA and her seven grandchildren: Sophia June Misko; Lydia Michael Misko; Mila Louise Hopkins; Huxson James Hopkins; Emery Rose Turner; Talon Daniel Turner and Slate Edward Turner.

Also surviving are Bobbie’s father, Robert N. Kostryk of Dixonville, PA; her two sisters: Frankie Fry and husband, Bill of Cherry Tree, PA and Angie Wetzel and husband, Todd of Rochester Mills, PA, many nieces and nephews and close family friend, Denny Clawson of Clymer, PA.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her mother, Betty R, Kostryk on February 11, 2000; her grandson, Tristan Dale Hopkins; her grandparents: Nickolas and June Rose (Lambing) Kostryk; her two uncles: Boone and Bill Kostryk and her close family friend, Toni Clawson.

There will be a closed casket visitation from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. A celebration of Bobbie’s life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers or other items being sent to the funeral home, Bobbie’s family would appreciate memorial donations to the Commodore Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 132, Commodore, PA 15729.
