Tiyika (Yika) Latrese Williams, our social butterfly, captured our hearts as she connected and thrived in every social setting, she found herself in.
Tiyika (Yika) Latrese Williams was born on April 17, 1984 to the late Teresa Williams and Timothy Johnson. At the young age of 9, she went to live with her father and stepmother Sheree Johnson. Tiyika passed away on December 4, 2024, at the age of 40.
Tiyika started out as a young toddler attending Full Gospel Tabernacle Church with her late grandmother Evelyn Johnson. She grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts attending all primary levels of education from Kennedy Elementary School, East Junior High School, but she had a creative style for beauty, therefore she went to Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School where she found her passion in the cosmetology industry. She graduated in 2002 and soon after started her career as a Hairstylist. She was known for working with all cultures and excelling the trends and styles. Tiyika went on to become a Certified Lash Technician, Masseuse and a Certified Caregiver serving to care for individuals in need. She enjoyed her work, traveling, being a cheer-mom, socializing with her family and friends and she absolutely loved to eat (especially macaroni and cheese). At the end of every conversation, Yika would say “I love you,” and give you a big hug. The most prominent part of Tiyika’s life was being a mom to her beautiful daughter Ja’leya. Tiyika loved being present in her daughter’s life. She undeniably supported her daughter as she guided her through life's challenges with a gentle hand and a heart overflowing with pride, always ready to celebrate her triumphs and comfort her in moments of doubt. Ja’leya was her greatest love story that will transcend time, space, and distance.
In addition to her parents, Tiyika leaves behind her daughter, Ja’leya Woodberry of Brockton, (Jamal Woodberry, father); 5 brothers; Tashaun Johnson (Ashley) of Georgia, Marquis Williams of Virginia, Kiewann Williams of Virginia, and William Lariviere of Brockton; and Cordell Lewis of East Bridgewater; 2 sisters, Tonita Mitchell of Brockton and Kieanna Williams of Virginia; grandfather Robert Plowden Sr; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godparents, godsons, goddaughters and many cousins that she adored. Tiyika, our Yika, will be sorely missed but will always remain in our hearts.
