Mark T. O’Connor, 89, of Worcester a beloved father, grandfather and friend died Monday, December 9th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. His wife of 56 years, Kathleen M. (Henry) O’Connor died in 2022. He leaves his children Sean O’Connor and his wife, Delia, Brian O’ Connor all of Worcester, and Mollie O’Connor Carrier and her husband, Greg Carrier of Oxford; four grandchildren, Olivia and Nicholas O’Connor, and Declan and Brayden Carrier; a brother, Stephen O’Connor of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Thomas and Mark; three brothers, Joseph, Patrick and John; and a sister, Bridget Doyle.
Born in Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland, the son of Mark and Mary (King) O’Connor, Mark immigrated in 1952 to the United States where he proudly worked for New England Power for over 30 years, serving as a foreman until his retirement in 1993. Mark was passionate about his work, and his dedication was evident in everything he did.
A longtime member of Our Lady of the Angles Church, Mark found joy and purpose in his faith and community. In his retirement, he embraced the role of handyman, enjoying side jobs and the satisfaction of helping others.
Mark cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, with whom he shared a special bond. Whether he was playing, sitting, or rocking them, he reveled in the joy of being a grandfather. Mark also enjoyed singing to his grandchildren. He always made time to visit loved ones, whether it was family and loved ones in Ireland or vacationing at his beloved Cape Cod. Mark had a tough exterior but had a very kind heart.
Mark’s legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched throughout his years. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his love, warmth, and the joy he brought to those around him.

His funeral is Tuesday, December 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with his funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
