John P. McNeill, a lifelong resident of Charlestown and a proud Townie, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at his home in Charlestown following a short courageous battle with cancer. He was 67 years of age.
John was born in Cambridge on March 17, 1957, a son of the late James K. McNeill and Norma (Smith) McNeill-Pilvalis. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated throughout the Boston Public School system. John worked as a laborer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for several years and held several other positions during his working career. John's most famous claim to fame was that he was a member of the Screen Actors Guild for playing a speaking role in the Brinks Job movie. John was a loyal friend to many.
John is the devoted brother of Eileen Richards, Charles McNeill, Bettianne Eldridge, Kenneth McNeill, Patricia Ferrer, Catherine Cabral, Dennis McNeill, Ann Snook, Paula Pilvalis and the late Diane Campbell and James McNeill. He was known to his many loving nieces and nephews as "Uncle Buck".
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Funeral Service on Tuesday morning, December 17, 2024, at 11 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial is private. His visiting hours will be on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
