William J. Strom, 85

William J. Strom, age 85, of Raynham, formerly of Mansfield, passed away, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the Life Care Center in West Bridgewater. He was the beloved husband of Antoinette R. (Fratoni) Strom, to whom he was wed on June 19, 1965.
Born in Attleboro, MA on March 21, 1939, he was a loving son of the late Eranus and Hazel (Davis) Strom.
Bill grew up in Attleboro and was a 1958 graduate of Attleboro High School. He served in the United Sates Coast Guard from June 11, 1958 - December 9, 1960 and upon being honorably discharged, returned to his studies and graduated from Bryant College.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Strom had worked as a Plant Manager at Dryvit Systems, Inc in West Warwick and was previously employed at the former Compo Chemical Company in Mansfield. He had made his home in Raynham for the past eighteen years and was a former thirty-four-year resident of Mansfield. Bill was a former member of both the Mansfield Lions Club and the Mansfield Lodge of Elks.
Bill’s favorite times were those spent amongst his loving family and good friends alike. He truly loved vacationing, especially in beautiful Aruba, Dennis on Cape Cod and in Naples, Florida. He was an excellent cook, enjoyed occasional trips to Foxwoods Casino, dining out and when younger refinishing furniture.
In addition to his wife of fifty-nine years, he is survived by his devoted sons, Michael W. Strom of Waldoboro, Maine and Matthew D. Strom and his wife Carmelia of Seekonk. He was the cherished and proud grandfather of Tyler Strom, Emily Strom, Andrew Strom, Benjamin Strom, Matthew Strom and the great grandfather of Liliana Grace and Tyler “TJ”. He was the dear brother of the late Sherm Strom and Bruce Strom and is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 19th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date.
Burial will take place privately at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Williams family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215 or to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
