Miriam LaJean “Jeanie” Nickels, 88, passed away in Anderson, IN on December 10, 2024
She was born on November 15, 1936 in Taylorville, Illinois, the daughter of Marvin and Miriam (Rogers) Ferguson.
Miriam moved to Anderson with her husband, Carl, from Decatur a little over a year ago.
She graduated from Decatur High School and worked as a secretary for the Herald & Review newspaper in Decatur. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Decatur and the YMCA. Miriam enjoyed walking, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren and her many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Carl, whom she married December 5, 1959; two children Kim (Tim) Potts of Cincinnati, OH and Steve (Susie) Nickels of Muncie, IN; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Adriana) Potts of Yuma, AZ, Joel (Katina) Nickels of Selma, IN, Mark Potts of Cincinnati, OH, Emily Nickels of Muncie, IN, Hannah (Mike) Dowling of Muncie, IN, Natalie (Jacob) King of Loveland, OH; seven great grandchildren and one on the way.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, and a granddaughter, Rachel.
The family is most grateful for the loving care provided to Miriam by the staff of Primrose Anderson and Paradigm Health Hospice.
Private family graveside services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 in Decatur, IL at Graceland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the ALS Association, www.ALS.org.
