Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude that we announce the passing of Nekije Myzyri. A cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on December 9, 2024 at the age of 95. Surrounded by love and family, she peacefully departed, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and kindness that will forever inspire those who knew her. Born in Korce, Albania, Nekije lived a life marked by resilience, love, and devotion to her family. She was the cornerstone of our family, whose unwavering support and gentle guidance shaped generations. A woman of faith, grace, and enduring strength, she taught us the value of compassion, the power of laughter, and the beauty of togetherness. Nekije was preceded in death by her spouse, Qemal Myzyri who she now joins in eternal peace. She is survived by her children Rezear and his wife Vjollca of Worcester, son Roland and wife Brunilda of Worcester, and daughter Refiko and her husband Gjergji of Worcester. Her grandchildren Sonila, John, Daniel, Yrielda, Denis and Anxhela and thirteen great-grandchildren as well as countless friends and extended family who adored her. Her hands, which lovingly prepared countless meals, and comforted us in times of need, will be forever missed. As we say goodbye, we hold tight to the lessons she taught us, the love she freely gave, and the countless ways she made the world brighter. Nekije was not just our family’s matriarch; she was our guiding light. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will remain alive in every act of love and kindness we share.
Her visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. The family will gather on Friday, December 13th from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home prior to burial in Hope Cemetery.
