Obituary

Wayman Claxton Lastinger, 86, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Southern Oaks Personal Care Home in Tifton. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph Crumley officiating. A eulogy will be given by John Mitchell Foskey. Mr. Lastinger will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Tim Hendrick, Blake Massey, Kyle Sommer, John Carl Sommer, Moose Lastinger and Jordan Foskey will serve as pallbearers.

Born June 26, 1938, in Tifton, Mr. Lastinger was the son of the late Jimmy Clayton Lastinger and Hazel Hall Lastinger. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rubye Nell Livingston Lastinger; a son-in-law, Ty Irvin; and one sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Carl Sommer. Before retiring, he was a supervisor at J. P. Stevens and also worked in Production Control at Riverside Manufacturing in Moultrie; and he attended Union Grove Church of God. He played semi-pro baseball for the Blue Sox in Tifton; and he loved attending Tift County Blue Devil football games. He also was a great fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves; and he loved his little dog, Skipper, who was his constant companion. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Lastinger is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Sue Lastinger of Tifton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dawn and Monty Foskey of Tifton, Skye Irvin of Worth County and Faith and Buddy Cawley of Ashburn; one brother and sister-in-law, D. L. and Carolyn Lastinger of Tifton; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Brooke and Kasey Luke, Brent and Ashley Lastinger, Jordan and Jenevieve Foskey, Mitchell Foskey, Courtney and Josh Schell, Blake and Carly Massey, Kaitlyn and Andrew Mogg and Henry Cawley; and eight great-grandchildren, Judah Lastinger, Asher Lastinger, Hansley Faith Luke, Addie Leigh Luke, Israel Lastinger, Max Massey, Kona Foskey and Ocean Foskey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to “Dream Center” at Union Grove Church of God, 4144 U.S. Highway 41 South, Tifton, GA 31794.
