Mary Anne Simmons, 72, of Panama City Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Anne was born on January 21, 1952, in Tifton, Georgia, to the late Jack and Kitty Wright. She was raised in Tifton, where she developed deep ties to the community and lifelong friendships.
Mary Anne was a devoted wife to Gary Simmons for 48 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving home filled with joy, faith, and family. She was the cherished mother of two daughters, Kate Taylor of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and Sarah Mikel James of Panama City Beach, Florida. She was the proud grandmother of five: Mason Bean, Lily Taylor, Maddox Bean, Jace James, and Jack Taylor.
She was the loving sister to Kay (Ronald Brownlee) of Tifton, GA and John L (Larkin) Wright, Jr. of Thomasville, GA.
A friend to many, she had a gift for making everyone feel special and loved. Her faith and love for her family were the guiding lights of her life.
A service to celebrate Mary Anne’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the First Methodist Church in Tifton, Georgia with the Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her memory and the remarkable legacy she leaves behind.
Clay James, Mason Bean, Maddox Bean, John L. Wright, Larkin Chester, Mathis Chester and Gibson Chester will serve as pallbearers.
Mary Anne’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us all of the beauty of a life well-lived.
