Michael James Grady of Wellesley, MA died on December 8, 2024, at the age of 78. Mike was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and the husband of Elin Gunning Grady for 56 years.
Mike was predeceased by his son Peter and is survived by his son Nathanael and his wife Robin, and son Nicholas. He also leaves five much-loved grandchildren: Sawyer, Annabelle, Peter, Alison and James and one grand dog, Lana, who may have been his favorite. He leaves his brother Dennis Grady and his sister Martha Keegan as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mike was a true scholar, with a passion for knowledge. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and an MBA from Babson College. He had a diverse consulting career that brought him around the world, however home is where his heart was.
Engaging with the local community was something near and dear to Mike, reflected in his role as head of Wellesley Little League when his boys were young, countless volunteer hours over the years, and his joy in cooking for family, friends and dozens of neighbors.
In his retirement, Mike became a Master Gardner and spent much of his time honing his skills right at home. His pride in this work could be seen in his vegetable gardens and stunning display of tulips and daffodils each year.
Mike’s generosity, sense of humor and exquisite homemade bread will be greatly missed.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St.,(Rt.16) Wellesley on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 2-5pm. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday. Dec. 16 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
