Obituary

David Dominic Cianciolo, 47, of Sandown, NH passed away unexpectedly on December 7th, 2024.

Dave lived life with a quiet, infectious smile. A smile for him, for you, for anyone and everyone lucky enough to know him.

Dave was born on May 19th, 1977 at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Dorotea and the late Carmen Cianciolo who raised him with all the love, care, and incredible Italian cuisine that any child could ever desire.

Dave was the youngest of his siblings, Nancy and Joseph. Dave grew up in a wonderful neighborhood, riding bikes, playing sports, and capture-the-flag on warm summer nights amongst friends too numerous to count.

In 2003, Methuen, Massachusetts, Dave married Erin (Buja) Cianciolo because her strength and intelligence are matched only by her gentle humor and tranquil grace. They lived together for twenty-one years in Sandown, New Hampshire, in a tight knit neighborhood surrounded by dear friends.

Dave and Erin have three amazing children: Gavin, Julianna, and Brady.

Gavin takes after his father in his intelligence, handiness, and love of music. He is studying to become a computer engineer and will no doubt drive innovation in the future.

Julianna, with her father’s sense of humor, is the funny one, but she’s also intelligent, artistic, and compassionate, all of which will serve her well in whatever healthcare field she chooses to grace.

Brady has his father’s drive and diligence, is intelligent in his own right, and is a workhorse at both school and gym. Whether he becomes a swole engineer or a jacked lawyer, he’s vowed to have a pet dog alongside keeping him company.

Dave graduated from UMass Lowell in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering. After fifteen more years of steady, diligent work, he achieved his master’s degree. He worked at Parlex, Velcro, DEKA, then reattached to Velcro. Dave worked in R&D, innovating and solving difficult industry problems he would occasionally explain but which most of his friends couldn’t begin to understand. His colleagues were like family to him and he loved them dearly.

Dave was a great friend. He loved joking, laughing, and making others laugh. It was one of his great gifts and many strengths. He could fix anything. Dave loved watching the Celtics, attending Foo Fighters concerts, beekeeping in his backyard, family vacations to the Cape, Indian cuisine, his kids’ cooking, and teasing his wife of twenty-one years.

David is survived by his wife and best friend, Erin and their children, Gavin, Julianna, and Brady; his mother Dorotea (Faulisi) Cianciolo; his sister Nancy and her husband Michael Antonietti, his brother Joseph and his wife Jennifer Cianciolo; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joyce and Don Buja; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Kristen Buja; several nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

He will be missed.
