SOUTH HADLEY – Barbara M. Barron, 74, South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, December 5, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on September 9, 1950, a beloved daughter of the late Fernand and Vivian (Mainville) Barron. She was raised in the Flats section of Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School, and received her Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from Holyoke Community College. She lived on Cape Cod for many years and moved to Western Mass ending up in South Hadley where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a Senior Paralegal and worked for over 32 years for the Department of Children and Families in Springfield. She was an avid camper often going to Camperama in Newfane, Vermont and loved many trips with her family to the beach in Maine. She loved to sew and play cards with her friends at the Holyoke Senior Center. She was a longtime member of the Ladies of the Moose at the Moose Family Center in Chicopee. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Theodore A. “Ted” Hamel Jr. who was Called Home on November 28, 2019. They were married on June 2, 1988 and were blessed with 31 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving and devoted daughters, Michelle A. Sergneri and her husband, Paul, and Melissa L. Thomas and her husband, John, all of Chicopee, and Annalise N. Hamel-Acosta and her husband, Frank Acosta, of South Hadley; her seven cherished grandchildren, Isabella Acosta, Trent Acosta, Michael Thomas, Brandon Thomas, Sarah Ames, Michael Sergneri, and Matthew Sergneri; her two dear sisters, Christine Lagimoniere and her husband, Bob, and Sandra Barron Fazio and her husband, Carlo, all of Chicopee; her two dear sisters-in-law, Joan Welch of Chicopee, and Doris Sparko and her husband, David, of South Hadley; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three dear siblings, her twin, Beverly White, Raymond Barron, and Anna Beauchemin. Family and friends are invited to attend a Committal Service on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
