Michael Eugene “Mike” Hasty, 71, of Brunswick passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A private family memorial service will be held for Mike at a later date.
Born February 25, 1953, in Rapid City, South Dakata, Mike was the son of the late Olin Hallman Hasty and Iva Mae Wagoner Hasty. He was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Glenn Hasty; and one brother, Robert Hasty. He graduated from Tift County High School and Southern Poly-Technical Institute. Following college, Mike returned to Tifton to work in the family business, Hasty’s Communications. In 1978, Mike moved his family to Brunswick, Georgia and founded Hasty’s Communications East, a multi-state Motorola Two-Way Radio Service Center. Mike was a true businessman and visionary. Some said he could turn a mountain out of a mole hill.
During his career, Mike also founded ProPage, Inc., which grew to be one of the Southeast United States’ largest paging companies. Mike retired roughly 10 years ago, but his passion for business would never retire. In retirement, Mike became a master Luthier and started Hasty Guitars, where he custom-fabricated beautiful acoustic guitars.
Mike was a strong man, short in stature, but strong in might. He did not get the grandfather name of Gen Gen for no reason. His grandkids picked up on that from the very beginning. Mike often said, “Happiness is when what you see, what you hear, and what you feel are all in harmony.” Well, dad, you have now found your HARMONY.
Mike is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Chris and Missy Hasty of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Jean Hasty of Atlanta; and three grandchildren, Carstin Hasty Gresham, Jake Hasty and Hannah Glenn Hasty.
