MALDEN, MA ---- Karen S. (Young) DeHetre, 77, lifelong resident of Malden, passed away at home, on Friday, December 6, 2024.
Karen was born on March 31, 1947, in Boston, MA, the daughter of Irving A. Young and Elvira A. (Wakefield) Christerson.
She was raised in Malden, having attended the Cheverus School. After leaving school in May of 1964, Karen married her sweetheart, Paul F. DeHetre, in Malden where the two of them settled down and began raising their family. In 1968, Karen and her husband purchased Broadway Auto Glass and ran it for over 50 years.
Karen is survived by her children, Paul A. DeHetre and Wayne M. DeHetre both of Londonderry, NH, Selina M. Ingersoll and her husband David of Saugus, MA, and Belinda J. DeHetre of Chelsea, MA; her grandchildren, Stephanie Bryszkowski and her husband Mateusz, Paul Joseph DeHetre and his fiancé Melissa Burke, Courtney and Keagan Ingersoll, and Patrick J. Stevens; and her great-grandchildren Isabella and Lucas Bryszkowski.
Karen is preceded in death by her husband Paul F. DeHetre, her parents Irving A. Young and Elvira A. (Wakefield) Christerson, and her step-father Albert ‘Al’ Christerson.
A private family service will be held.
