Jean Cassidy, 86, of Williams Road, Smithfield, died Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at her home with her family by her side. She was the widow of Robert J. Cassidy who died in 2017. They had been married for 57 years at the time of his death.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Catherine (MacDonald) Dawley. She had lived in Smithfield for most her life.
Jean is survived by her sons: Gregg Cassidy of Foster and Glenn Cassidy and his wife, Brenda of Glocester and her three grandchildren: Emily Rose Cassidy, Holly Cassidy, Hunter Glenn Cassidy. She was the sister of the late Jane Cunningham, Edmund “Ned” Dawley and Charles “Mickey” Dawley.
Jean was a Registered nurse. She also had worked at Women & Infants Hospital before attending Community College of RI to receive her Nursing License. After nursing school, she worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Fatima Unit, Little Sisters of the Poor, and Hebert Nursing Home before retiring.
Her funeral services were private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
