CHICOPEE – Lynn D. (Fagerstrom) Bennis, 68, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on January 15, 1956, a beloved daughter of the late Donald and Mary (LeClair) Fagerstrom. She was raised in a military family and settled in Chicopee in 1968 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where she was a longtime organist of the parish and was also an organist at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Springfield and Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. Lynn was a talented woman who in addition to playing the organ, enjoyed quilting and calligraphy. She was also a longtime pet sitter for family and friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She leaves beloved husband and best friend, Larry Bennis. They were married at the former Holy Name Church in Chicopee on January 9, 2007 and were blessed with over 17 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving children,
Aaron Nugent and his partner, Amanda Merchant, of Springfield, Ben Kwiatkowski and his wife, Rachel, of Enfield, CT, and Molly Kwiatkowski and her partner, Adam Bartlett, of Chicopee; her three loving step-children, Christine Arnold of Boise, ID, Cynthia Bennis of Denver, CO, and David Bennis and his wife, Jennifer, of Yuba City, CA; her six cherished grandchildren, Olivia Nugent, Jax Bartlett, Ashley Arnold, Evan Arnold, Brooke Arnold, and Wyatt Bennis; her dear sister, Nancy O’Leary and her husband, John, of Reading, PA; her dear sister-in-law, Connie Desmarais of West Springfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother-in-law, Ronald V. Desmarais who was Called Home on August 24, 2021. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
